Skates
Skates are the most important part of your kit. The quality of hockey skates can range considerably. While you may be a new skater and not need some of the advanced features of $900 skates, it’s important to get a well-constructed boot to help you keep your ankles from bending to the side.
Be sure you’re getting hockey skates, not figure skates; hockey skates have a slight camber to the heel and toe of the skate blade, and no toe pick. If you can, avoid rental skates; they tend to be worn down and typically not well sharpened.
You should ensure that your skates are sharpened before you start skating.
