The Raleigh Center Ice, formerly called the RecZone, was one of Raleigh’s older rinks that was also the official Hurricanes practice facility from when the Canes came to Raleigh in 2001. It was closed in 2020 when Wake Competition Center came online. Despite being only one sheet, it was a popular rink for youth travel hockey since it was positioned in the center of the city, equidistant to hockey families that tend to live north or south of the beltline. The four locker rooms had connected showers, but the only bathrooms were outside in the lobby. |
